A "typical" day

About 2 weeks ago, or maybe more, I had a brilliant idea about a post I wanted to do.  It seemed to me that all I was posting about was the "outings" we were doing and not just every day, boring, life.  Since one day I'm going to make this a blog book(I keep saying that, don't I??) I wanted to be able to capture a day at home, or a "typical" day, if you will.  Now I say "typical" and have quotes because there's really not a typical day with a almost 3 year old and a 17 month old but calling it a "stay at home day where we really don't do anything special" didn't really sound great and was a really long title.  So anyway, a few weeks ago I toted around a notebook and my camera and tried to capture a day at home.  I did this partly because of the reason listed above and partly because I wanted to see what in the world I really did all day long. :)  I promise I didn't do anything different/special just because I was going to write about it on the blog.  So, I know this will be a long post... probably broke into two... so most of my millions of readers(ha ha) will be totally bored and won't finish reading it.  I understand... I won't hold it against you.  I promise.  Now let's get on with it before this intro takes up the entire post!
I started this post at midnight so you get to hear about the early morning too...
4:30am S up- pacifier in his mouth and went back to sleep.  or so we thought..
4:55 S up again(see above)
5:30 O is up but she sometimes goes back to sleep in our bed... which is what happened today
7:05 James, O, and I get up
O and I "make" James' lunch(but it in the sack)
O eats breakfast with James
I remember I didn't look for heart patterns on the internet for an art project I wanted to do today so I'm looking for those and printing those out while they eat.
James leaves for work
O goes potty
S gets up
O goes potty again
I get S breakfast
O goes potty one more time
8:20- I get to eat breakfast
O colors at the table because she is all done and S and I have just started
8:30- the real reason O went potty 3 times- poo poo!!  Here's a nice quote that is rather embarrassing: "hold tight, hold tight. No fall in the toilet!" :)
8:50- S and I are done eating and I start cleaning

I happened to mention that it was bath day... mistake.  The whole time I'm cleaning up breakfast O is saying "NO cleaning.  Take bath." over and over.  She even goes and gets pants out of her drawer and keeps asking for a bath. S on the other hand is hanging on my legs or being chased by O and screaming, or pulling things off the counter top... basically a little bit of chaos.  At one point O disappears for awhile and comes back with her pants on her "baby."  Her quote "I dress baby.  She wears this to church." (not church day)
Yes, S has a pink monkey... it was O's and he has decided it's one of his favorite things to carry around... as well as the spoon.
9:00 cleaning is over(yes, it took me 10 minutes to clean up breakfast) and we get ready for a bath
We refinished our basement last summer and put a bathroom down there.  That's where I give the kids a bath.  Several reasons... one, it's a regular tub and not a deep, jetted tub like upstairs, two(and probably the main reason) I can leave all their toys in the tub downstairs and not have to worry about picking it up unless we have someone come and spend the night. :)  Anyway, I tell you this because the main room downstairs is a disaster of a play room and even though they want to take a bath, there's not many times we go downstairs and go straight to the bathroom.  Today was such a day.
9:07 me "you want to take a bath now"
O "play a bit more"
So we played.  I just made a collage of the play time pictures.  Want to know what to look for?? Our cats(Gabby, Bob, and Squintz), O bouncing on a big ball, S and O doing "somersaults," S being "chased" by a "car."
Me to O: "You like that ball, huh?"
O: "I love the ball!"
Me: "Do you remember who gave you that ball?"
O: "Jesus!"

9:30 finally get to take a bath
I'm not going to post naked pictures of my children on the internet so I'll tell you a little about bath time-  O started "painting" the bath walls with her blue paint soap(kind of hard to see but it's there and needs to be cleaned off sometime...) and S always fills his cup with water and drink it or pour it on himself, pretty much what he does all bath time until we plug the tub and "splash."
Here's O and her bath paint soaps.  She loved when I took these pictures!  She set this all up again and wanted me to take more pictures the next time we took a bath!

When we wash O's hair we always have to say "look up to the sky.  So high, so high, hello sky!"
O has also started putting her face in the water to blow bubbles, which is a huge step for her!
O: "No eat it!"(to the water)
O: "I blow bubbles out my nose!"
I wish I wrote down when they got out but I didn't.  Here are pictures of the drying part.  My friend Andrea gave me the towel S is in when I was pregnant with O.  I love it and decided to make more.  My children, I guess, have large heads because the hood on the towel she gave me doesn't fit O's head anymore.  So I decided to try to make another one but use a hand towel instead of a wash rag for the hood.  It's huge now!  Oh well!

10:30 everyone is dry and dressed!  O decides we need to play in the basement more so we do.  I start to cut out hearts for the art project we were going to do that day(but didn't get around to doing it) but O wanted to read.  So we read... we read alot that day.

Yes, I haven't showered...
I also chased S around with O riding on my back...

And S played a little baseball...

I think that might be all for this post.  More to come later....
