We don't let our kids watch alot of tv but there is one show that O and S love, Sid the Science Kid(on our PBS station).  It's actually a really good show.  It's a good reminder for me of all those science-y things you learn in school.  :) Anyway, this week there was a Halloween episode and they made slime.  I thought we should try it out today.  The show said mix equal parts water and corn starch... we had to use more corn starch than water.  We also didn't have green washable paint to add but it was still cool.  Because it's better to actually see the slime drop, I'm including some videos.  Actually there are three of them. :)  We just signed up for internet through a new company in our neighbor and it's so much faster and better that I'm able to upload videos in seconds instead of hours so there may be more videos on my blog. :)

The kids watched this video over and over.  They found it very funny.

 

As you saw, O was very into this.  Her hands were covered!  Which surprised me because she normally doesn't like to have her hands dirty.

S liked it too but wanted to use his spoon

If you want to try this at home I will give you two suggestions, one I did, the other I didn't.  The one I did, cover the table with plastic wrap.  I taped it to the sides of the table.  The second one, use throw-away bowls for your slime.  I'm all about the recycling but it was really rather hard to get the slime out of my bowls since I didn't want it clogging up my drain or dishwasher.  

 

First baseball game

I love baseball.  It doesn't matter if I watch it in person or on tv.  It's the sport I like to watch(James has tried to convert me to football, not happening.  I'll watch his KState Wildcats but that's about it).  I love that we live in a city that has a professional baseball team.  Yes, they aren't very good(understatement) but how cool is it that we can drive 30 minutes and watch a professional baseball game?  I think it's cool anyway. :)

Since we have had kids, I've wanted to take them to a game.  I know they won't remember it.  I know it would probably be a game I don't get to watch.  I just wanted them to experience it.  It hasn't worked out.  For 4 years, it hadn't worked out.  Until this August... finally... we all get to go!  And why, do you ask, was August a good time to go to a baseball game with 3 kids ages 4 and under???  This is why... 

 

 

Yes, our team is so bad they give lots of stuff away so people will come to the games.  The game we went to gave everyone a good old fashion metal lunchbox!  Everyone was so excited!

It was a little hot(Kansas in August, you don't believe it, do you??) so we went into the Royals Hall of Fame museum.  You can go through a museum really quickly with a 4 and almost 3 year old!  Who are very strong by the way...

 I did mention it was hot, right?  So we had to eat some ice cream.  Ice cream in a helmet can't be beat!

 

Oh, and there was a baseball game going on! :)  This is how we watched the game.  We never made it to our seats(which happened to be in the sun). 

 

 

 The kids had fun.  They talked about it for days afterwards.  Next year(which will be our year :) ) we will go again and try to watch more than half of an inning sitting in our own chairs. Hot dogs, ice cream(or yummy funnel cakes!), fountains, carousel rides included.

First day of school... 5 weeks ago

 So I'm a bit behind. :)  Preschool started for us 5 weeks ago.  O goes to school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  She loves it!  She has made new friends and several of her old friends from last year are in her class again this year.  Here are pictures from her first day.

S is also going to preschool... pre, preschool.  He missed the cut off for preschool by 16 days.  So he goes one day a week.  He also loves it!  He stays through lunch and "nap time."  That's in quotes because S doesn't nap.  Per one of his teachers "S saves his life stories for nap time."  The first day of school, S tells O in the van "my teacher says S, no talking."  I asked him if he was suppose to be sleeping when his teacher said that.  He said "yes."

So what can you do if you can't go outside for the whole month of July(and August isn't looking any better) because its a 100+ degrees outside????  O and S have a suggestion for you.....

In case you couldn't tell... get out your old crib mattresses and start jumping!

Make it an educational activity and count as you jump!

It's a boy!

Our little guy is here!!!  Since I don't post my kiddos names on the blog you will have to email me to get his name. :)  On the blog he will be known as baby G.  He was born on June 20th.  Weighed 7lbs 14oz... a big baby for me!  He has been a great baby!!  Here are some pictures.

O and S visited us at the hospital both days we were there.  This is an appropriate picture with S being a blur. There's not alot of things for an active almost 3 year old to do in the hospital but he did pretty well.  O loved just talking and holding G.
