Thanksgiving

Apparently Tuesday is my blogging day. :)
For Thanksgiving we went down to my family near Wichita.  I do have to admit that I was not a good blogger and didn't take that many pictures.  My mom took alot(those of you who know her are very surprised I'm sure!!:) so I'll try to steal some from her and post them this weekend when we go down for another visit.(Yes, it may not be another Tuesday post).  Here's what I did get:
Here is Miss O enjoying lunch

We had lunch at my mom's and then went over to where my dad and grandparents and all of his brothers and sisters were having their lunch.  Here's a picture of my family and my grandparents.  It was way past nap time so J is not happy in any of the pictures.
Here's a picture of my brother, his wife, my niece and my dad with my grandparents(John and Amy, I'll try to get you a copy soon!)
Us with Dad(yes, J is still screaming)
We went back to Mom's house for yummy pie and cake(that Josh made).  Then we went through some clothes that were given to us by someone mom knows.  This was O's outfit after looking through everything.  Yes, it's a good blackmail picture. :)  Doesn't she even look distressed?  The funny thing is, later that evening we went to Wal-Mart and she wore what she has on here minus the shirt.  I made her change since it was 30 degrees outside.  Mean Mom!
Here's a picture of "Gaga" with her granddaughters!  J was still sleeping.  I love how Miss E is playing with her tongue!

We actually came back home on Saturday.  We got ALOT done on Saturday evening/Sunday thanks to my wonderful husband.  And...  I even have Christmas lights on my house!!!!  I love Christmas lights.  When we were married, or maybe even just engaged, I made James buy Christmas lights for the house.  6 sets.  Yes, I really like Christmas lights.  Unfortunately, the lights have never made it on any of the houses we have lived in.  My sister-in-law and I even tried to put them on last year but that was disastrous!(Ask Kim about her broken foot sometime).  So I was so happy when Sunday James put up lights for me(I'll pretend they are for me but he probably did them for the kids:).  Don't worry, I'll use them as an excuse to go driving around and look at light displays! :)
O started out watching...
 and then wanted to "help"
This is pretty much what J did most of the time.  When he wasn't shoving in my flower pot or wanting me to walk with him.
I like this picture because of O's face.  She was so proud of herself for helping put up the lights.  She kept saying "I help put up lights! I good helper!"

Well, I have many other random things to post but since this is already a mini book, I will save those for another Tuesday. :)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

No sickness!

I am happy to report that no one was sick this weekend.  Yea!!  This weekend James was out of town again and with all the traveling we have been doing and will be doing, I thought it would be best if the kidos and I stayed home this weekend.  So here are some things we did:
On Thursday we went to a story time at the Johnson County museum with a few other moms and kids from our MOPS group.  It was really fun.  O just sat and listened, I was really surprised.  J listened for awhile but his one year old attention span didn't last that long.  He was more interested in the dots on the lady's shoe who was sitting in front of us. :)  At the end of our time there they gave us a book: Gracias The Thanksgiving Turkey by Joy Cowley.  Cute book.  And of course that was the only book we read for the next few days.
On Friday it was pretty nice outside so I decided we needed to go jump in the leaves.  Actually the kids helped me decided because O didn't take a nap at all and J only took an hour and a half nap because O was screaming.  Thank you Jesus for a nice day on Friday!  Anyway, we had a great time outside.  Here are some pictures:
This happened when we were eating snack before leaf jumping.  They were both looking at me when I was taking the picture but turn just as it took.  I have no idea why O decided to leave her hood on the whole time since it wasn't that cold out but she did. :)

I love J's face in the background.  He thought O jumping in the leaves was so funny!
There's a story behind this picture.  I will let you look at it first and see if you notice something that could go terribly wrong.
How many of you noticed that O's mouth is open?  Yes, it stayed open as the leaves fell.  And yes, there was lots of coughing and spitting up and some pretzel goldfish(snack) revisiting but it all worked out in the end.  We just had to move our leaf pile.  And she didn't open her mouth when she threw leaves again. :)

I love this one!

Another good picture I think.  I like how the leaves are falling out of O's hands.

My little guy helping rake the leaves.
If I don't blog before Thanksgiving, have a good one!

sickness, again

Wow, I don't have a computer for the weekend and I check and I have 3 comments on my last post!!  Yahoo!!  :)
One week I will get to write about something other than someone in my family being sick over the weekend.  Actually, it will be next week because I just decided that the Thompson family is done being sick for the winter.  Everyone has got it so we have had our turn and there will be no more.  No more I say!
So, with that out of the way, all I will tell you about this weekend was it was my turn to get sick.  Throw up and other sick and it was so bad I called my mom to come up on Friday to watch the kids since James was out of town again.  Oh, and James had he own sickness issues in the great state of Oregon so we really have all had it.
With the sickness we didn't get too many pictures from this weekend with my mom, James' mom and sister.  The ones I did get were from Sunday morning.  Some back ground information: O loves church.  Like really, loves church.  Her three favorite places to go are "church day" "MOPS day" and "store, see babies"(which are dolls- normally Target).  So since we were sick two weekends ago and didn't go to church and she was sick on Tuesday and didn't go to MOPS Sunday was a big day in our house.  And we heard about it.  Alot.  "Church Day! Church Day! Go bye-bye, church day!" over and over.  So as a distraction(and it's always fun) we took some pictures.  Here are just 3 of the many we took:
Grandma, Aunt Kim, and the kids

Me and the kids(yes, O really does have eyes, she just doesn't like to show them)

O with her bag ready to go!!

Also this weekend I got back pictures that Jami took of our family.  Fabulous!!  Wonderful!!  She actually got O to open her eyes in pictures!!  So, I will have to post some of my favorite ones soon.  Gotta go make supper now. :)

Have a great day!

yummy!!

For those of you who don't know, I love ice cream!  And I love trying new favors.  I found pumpkin ice cream a few weeks ago so I thought I would try it.  It was pretty good... at least the first bowl.  Then I got the second bowl(a different night) and it was good but not as good.  Then the third bowl wasn't as great.  It was just really really pumpkin.  So I had half a gallon of pumpkin ice cream and didn't know what to do with it.  So I got an idea.  I love pumpkin pie so why not make a frozen pumpkin pie!  So I got a graham cracker crust and some whip cream at the store, set the ice cream out for a little bit(actually a little bit longer than a little bit but that's ok) and put it all together and back in the freezer.  I had a big piece tonight- wow, yummy!  It was so easy but I'm proud that I actually did it!  I aways have these little, fun ideas but never get around to doing them.  I'm glad I did this one.  :)

Sickness and random pictures

We had a bad weekend.  The only good parts of it were that the kids and I went down to my mom's house and I got to have lunch and spend some time with my friend Mandy and her family on Sunday.  It was a weekend full of sickness.  If you want to skip over the sickness part(which I won't blame you), just go to the next paragraph. It started on Friday with coughs and sneezes from both kids.  Than Saturday morning O started her sneezing with snot flying out of her nose(sorry to those of you with weak stomachs but it is quite gross).  Runny noses were all over the place.  Sunday started off ok with just coughing from J but then the real fun happened with throw up everywhere from O Sunday afternoon/evening.  I did warn you! :) It was gross.  I'm really not sure how I held it together with throw up all over me.  I guess it's "mom power." Anyway, we drove home on Monday and had a dr. appointment for O.  No ear infections(to the surprise of myself and the dr.).  They both are still crabby and not eating much but hopefully the end is in sight.  Oh, and did I mention that James is out of town(having his own sickness and troubles!) so he missed it!  How sad.

So here are some random pictures from October.  I didn't really take any pictures this weekend due to the sickness.
Here O is "putting on" her daddy's chap stick.  Yes, we now have to be very careful what we do and say around our little girl because she wants to do everything we do.  And the lid to the chap stick is still on but she still thought it was really funny. :)

Here O is in a tu-tu I made her at a class I took.  She really liked it that day but hasn't been interested since.  Kind of disappointing but oh well!  If you want to know how to make one, let me know!

One evening we had breakfast for supper.  We had egg sandwiches.  Both of our picky eaters surprised us and ate the eggs and bacon!  J loved the bacon!

My little man loves his pacifiers, binkies, plugs, whatever your name is for them!  He will wake up sometime at night and all we need to do is put another pacifier in his mouth and he will go back to sleep.  Well this morning he somehow ended up with 3(I think he was hording them).  So here's the big dilemma he has... pacifiers or milk...
He actually thought about it for a long time.  Then the milk won.

Halloween weekend

Halloween weekend had it's ups and downs this year.  It started with a big up!  My husband called me on Thursday and said, "Your mom is coming up this weekend, right? Do you want to go to the K-State game?"  Yeah!  I had never been to K-State and since it's my hubby's Alma mater (he knows the fight song still!)  I was super excited.  So we went.  Oh, let me back up- on Friday was dress up day at work for James.  Here's his lovely attire (and "dancing" with Miss O):

Ok, back to K-State... Here are some pictures:

AND we got to go on the field for the first quarter:

This is the line we weren't suppose to cross....

AND we got got to go the the Verizon suite to watch the rest of the game:

I had to take a picture of the band. Go Band!!
It was a good day! Thank you for watching the kids Mom!!

Halloween itself was a complicated day.  I'll just skip to the trick-or-treating part.  O got to stay home with James to hand out candy(Thank you to my wonderful husband!).  J and I went trick-or-treating.  Here's some pictures:
Notice the size difference in his feet...
My little man ready to go...

The gangster gorilla..

O "helping" J to "see" his candy.  I like the neat rows...
Yes, there is a Reese's peanut butter cup in his mouth, the whole thing and yes I took it out as soon as I took the picture.  How can kids tell it's candy even when they never have had any???
