So this was my morning....
I was suppose to go to my second(and last) "heritage cookbook" class at a church down the road from us but couldn't. I had issues finding childcare for the kids(theirs was full) so James was staying home with them. Well, something happened over the weekend and he had to go into work this morning so no cookbook class. I"m sure that had alot to do with why this morning wasn't the greatest. Anyway, just as James went to work I looked over and O was sitting on the floor. The look on her face and the fact that there was a big bump around her bottom area told me she had just pooped her pants. I asked her.... "what are you doing O?" She says "nothing". I say, "did you go poo poo in your pants?" She says, "no." I really think this is the first time she has really known what she was doing/saying and lied to me. So we had a little discussion about what the truth was as I carried her to the bathroom to clean her up(oh, and her "present in her pants" stopped up the toilet too). So we finally get to eat and that's fine and the day is just going so slowly that I suggest we take a bath. So we all go downstairs and that goes ok until O suddenly says "I poop in bath" Yes, she did. I grab S and put him on the rug and then grab her and put her on the toilet to finish. Then I look over and S is peeing on the rug. So I tell O to hold on and I move him and put a towel down over the pee. Then I go back to O and she apparently was all done in the bathtub so I'm cleaning her up when S starts screaming and I look over and he has shut his fingers in the cabinet door. So I rescue him and finally get everyone dry and dressed... with alot of crying going on. We go and play in the basement and everything is fine until we go to the spare room to make the bed. I'm laying down on the bed pretending to "sleep" and S comes over and bonks my head with his and now I have a knot on my left eyebrow(and a headache) and there's more crying. So we go upstairs and try to get lunch going but O falls down and starts crying and S is crying(not sure why). So we sit for a bit and then make lunch, which was somewhat uneventful. When lunch was finally over... the highlight of the morning was S and O marching around the kitchen to music while I cleaned. I actually had a thought that maybe the morning was getting better.... then I turned the music off and S through a fit and bonked his head and cried through most of the diaper change. And O was standing by the table when I threw the diaper in the garage(because it was a poopy one... of course) and when I looked at her face I knew I wasn't done cleaning up messes. She had left me a huge puddle of pee on the floor. So I cleaned that up and they were in bed only about 45 minutes later than normal. How was your morning?
Why are mornings like this the times I feel the least Christ-like? I have a great life... I really do. I have great kids, a wonderful, caring husband. We are all healthy, have a great house and food to eat. We really are not in want for anything. But lately it seems my temper has been short and many times I feel I could have handled situations better and more Christ-like than what I did. I know people will say "You have an almost 3 year old and a 17 month old... it's hard and to be expected" but I don't want to make excuses. I want to be like Christ, especially when things like this morning happen. But it's so hard. I keep on trying. I feel like that's all I can do but there's so much more I want to do than just "try." I really want to experience Christ's love and share/express that love to my husband, children, family, and friends everyday. But it seems like all I do is "try" and go through motions and hope that someday....
This Sunday I saw a phrase that caught my attention...."make me nothing so You can be everything" Maybe that's what's happening now. I don't know. I'm rambling. And there's no pictures in this post so I'm going to stop typing now. :) Any thoughts, suggestions, and prayers are greatly appreciated.
So sorry! What a day! First off, thanks for being honest. Being a mom is hard work and sometimes it can feel lonely, sharing the hard days lightens the load a bit in my mind. But secondly, this is a hard phase. I know you said that's sorta like an excuse and I completely understand but it is also your reality. There are always hard phases we go through and you are in the midst of one so don't be too hard on yourself. I really had a hard time when my kids were your kids ages, and it does get easier and then for me harder and now easier. I think it's like a roller coaster. Someone said in the ladies retreat I was just on that little of spiritual importance comes in the presence of speed and I think that's where I run into problems (me not you) when I'm trying to get something else done or make the kids do something quickly. I have to slow down and live those moments. But it sounds like you are doing an amazing job at that, so just hang in there. Some days are harder than others, (honestly my day yesterday was pretty lousy too and I had a meltdown during the making of supper and Reg took over and I sat in the bedroom alone while he finished cause i couldn't handle my life) You aren't alone!! And I'm praying!

I love you Jenny and I LOVE what a good mom you are. As Angel said, yes being a mom is a hard job. you are going to have days that make you want to run away and hide your head in the sand.....then one of the kids come up to you and hug you and say "i love you mommy" and it seems to make that "horrible terrible no good day" just a little bit easier to take. Keep your head up and your heart for God and He will help you through these days....and who knows, maybe when the kids are grown up, you can read your Not a Good Morning blog to them and really embarrass them!!!
