Let the count down begin!!

Those of you who know me may be able to figure out the subject of this post by looking at the title and the date.  Yes, you are correct.  That wonderful time of the year has come to COUNT DOWN THE DAYS TO MY BIRTHDAY!!  YEA!!! :)  Only 30 days to go!  You see, I love my birthday.  I've loved it for as long as I can remember.  I'm not sure exactly why.  Here are a few reasons I've come up with:
1. I got to watch whatever I wanted to on tv!  Since I lived in a house with two younger brothers and a father who loved football and my birthday is in February, right after football ended, it was great to be able to watch some nonfootball-related show.  Actually, to be honest, maybe part of me really did just want to bug my dad and brothers by making them watch figure skating. :)
2. I got to pick whatever I wanted to eat.  I love manicotti.  We never had manicotti unless it was my birthday.  And my mom makes the most amazing chocolate cake(with miracle whip in it but don't tell anyone!).  I would always have that too!
3. I could have a party.  I've had everything from a swim party(which is funny because I hate to swim now!) to a roller skating party with my WHOLE class and I didn't get any of the cake, to surprise birthday parties.  I  guess I just like parties!
4. I don't mind getting older.  Actually, I think it's kind of fun.  There's always something new to do when you are "older."  At almost 32(in one month)... yes... I actually said my age... gasp!... I still think there's more fun things to do in life that I couldn't do at 15 or 20 or 28.  Case in point, about a month ago I looked in the mirror and I had a gray hair.  Yes, a gray hair.  Just one.  And it was on the very top of my head.  I noticed it because it was curly.  First I was excited because I had a curly hair!!  Even one curly hair is worth getting excited about when you have super straight hair!  Then I was excited that I had a gray hair!  What!?!?  Did she just say she was excited about a gray hair!??!(I know you are thinking this!)  Yes, I was excited.  It's just another part of life... something new!  Well, I looked at the hair all proud and stuff and went about my day.  A week or so went by and the gray hair was still there but it was doing crazy things.  Like it just wasn't curly it was sticking straight up in the air curly!  I was thankful at that time that it was only one hair and then had a wonderful thought that maybe when my head is all gray I will have fabulous, curly, sticking out everywhere gray hair all over my head! Then I remembered an old wise tale that said if you pulled out a gray hair, two more would grow back.  hmmm, I thought, do you think that's really true???  So I pulled it out and the search for more gray hair ensued!  How exciting!  Yes, I'm being real and honest with you... I looked for more gray hairs everyday!  A few days later one appeared!  It was true!!  But I only saw one.  Maybe, I thought, I didn't pluck it all out and I needed to do it again.  So out that gray hair went and the search continued.... and continued... and continued... with nothing... nada... zero gray hairs.  Still nothing and it's been several weeks.  So, I'm sorry to disappoint everyone but that old wise tale is totally not true!  I have no gray hairs and I should have kept my one, crazy, curly one.  Oh, why did I have to be so greedy?!?  :)
I'm sure there's more reasons I love my birthday.  And I'll post them when I think of them.  But right I really should do some grown-up stuff like fold the laundry that has been on my couch for 3 days, do the dishes, pay the bills that may or may not but almost past due, and figure out what's for supper.  You know, I am getting older and stuff....
